Water in rear passenger footwell

Hi -I have a 2002 190 ZT-T in great condition (only 62K miles)

I have been plagued in this wet weather with considerable amounts of water in the rear offside passenger footwell. No carpet on the sides of the footwell appear to be wet -just the floor - and nowhere else inside. I've been inside during a downpour and could not see or feel any water ingress. I've just had the aircon regassed because I had wondered if their was some sort of leak in the system causing condensate to be ejected from the vent under the driver's seat. The garage said this was most unlikely and the cause most probably was a blocked roof channel drain.
What's the general feeling - Is there a drain from the roof (it being a tourer it has pre-fixed fastenings for a roof rack) and if so how could excess water find its way into the footwell ? The only possibilty might be down the B post and out by the lower drivers seat belt fixing but I can't see any drain exiting from under the car.

Any help/advice gratefully accepted.

Got a sunroof?

Lift your rear seat up and have a look at what appears to be a pipe that carries the cables from inside the rear wheearch through to the inside of the car. You may find that the pipe has rotted away, and therefore allowing water to enter the inside of the car via the seat pan.

Sorry - forgot to say there's no sunroof.
I'll go and look under the seat - thanks for that.

Excuse my ignorence - how does the seat squab lift up ? Seems to be held by a clip or two but in which direction should I put ?

I got mine up by yanking it hard. There are some odd clips at the back. The front ones just pop off easily. Getting the bench back in position again is a nightmare!

There is a FIX IT on here somewhere search will bring it up.
Something like, Remove and Replace rear seat.

Thank you for that. Yes maybe I should have searched the forum first.

You can just lift the edge of the seat up on the drivers side, and get some kitchen roll paper and push it under the side of the seat. If it comes out wet you have found the problem.

Now got the rear seat squab off - the trick is to push it back 1/2inch after lifting the front to disengange a small hook. Putting it back isn't easy !!
The good news is that there is no sign of water in the seat pan or indeed of there ever having been. The floor carpet in the offside rear footwell and under the driver's seat that are the only areas soaking wet. After a downpour I can get at least a pint of water out using a wet/dry vac.
Does anyone know if there is a drain running down the B post from the roof gutter ?
