Variable intake system

My Zt has developed the dreaded rattle. On inspection the front VSI valve
when removed, the long plastic bar, although still attatched to the actuators, flops around or rather down, way below the spindle area of the motor drive. Whats gone wrong. I bought off ebay a ZT workshop manual but this is of no help whatsoever, giving NO details to this assembly. Has anyone else had this problem and how was it resolved.

Welcome to the forums, and membership of the "death rattle club" Unfortunately the only way to go is to replace the complete inlet system. Rough cost for a manifold is £537 + fitting.

Hi Filbrook and welcome to the club.

Fixing the VIS valve is relatively simple providing it's only the solder that has broken on the PCB inside the VIS motor casing.

Check this thread to find out how to do it... http://www.the75andztclub.co.uk/foru...read.php?t=140

EDIT: Also could be whole new manifold as Late's above said!

Let us know how you get on!

I believe it will be a manifold change as the actuator rod is very sloppy. You may find soldering the motor would revitalise the performance if you have noticed it drop off but I cant see it curing the rattle you describe. As Simon has mentioned please keep us informed on your progress.

As per lates above, the inlet manifold unit itself is not a serviceable item :( It cannot be dismantled for repair and once the actuator rod for the valve system goes then it's a complete new manifold required.

sorry to be the bearer of bad news!

Mike

Welcome to the club Filbrook your description suggests one or more of the cup and ball joints has failed to the butterfly valves allowing the arm to move

This explains the motor repair process but I think you are looking at a trip to Lates or a bit of diy
