T4 Location Map

T4 Location Map

The T4 map is now live on the link above. Works in two ways:

Click on the marker on the map: who and where it is and other services available comes up at the left of the screen.
Click on the name on the list: information as above comes up and the marker on the map shows the location.

Club traders with T4s can be contacted by PM here (obviously!), non club T4s a link to the garage’s website is included in the information except for TS Autos, Terry’s only means of contact is a mobile phone but I have permission to give his number out so PM me.

When I said I’d include nano meets I didn’t realise there’s only one, the Midland’s one! I’ve left it on the map as there can be a T4 present but it’s not guaranteed, you’d need to check with the organisers. Even if the T4 isn’t there it’s an excellent meet for advice and assistance from fellow members.

Please note if you are going to zoom right in on the map the markers are not positioned exactly but in the general area, especially with the club traders, I know I wouldn’t appreciate the marker being planted at my front door!

All the non club T4 information has been supplied by members.

I will maintain the map, amending as necessary. If there is enough demand I’ll create a 2nd map showing recommended locations for servicing, repairs and parts. I had a go at putting everything on one map but it started to get too chaotic!

You've beat me with that one Gary. Maybe your on Highland time . . . . sorry :getmecoat: Nobody else has mentioned any problem. I know the map you are referring to but no idea why that would be coming up.

Ooh that link is the bees knees now though 🤗 Thank you for spending your time on this challenge, it will be a great reference point for T4.

Well done Steve, a very useful resource for all of us.

There is another to consider adding, who are "Mike Rolls Services for MGs", in North Dorset.

:smilie_re: www.mikerolls.co.uk

They are well respected in MGOC circles and have a 5 star MGOC Spanner award.

As well as the classic cars, they also have a T4 and are able to work on the later MGs and Rovers. ;)

T 4 map

Have only just seen the map and our details are incorrect.
We are not in Exmouth but Newton Abbot.
I know for a fact that the (ex) Rover dealer in Exmouth can't do T4 tests because their diagnostic machine doesn't work properly.
We have full T4 diagnostics as well as full workshop facilities and parts supply for all MG Rover across the marque and MG Rover trained mechanics.
Can you please amend our details and include us in the map and other T4 lists.
We have a website and also are happy for our phone no to be published.
Thanks
Lynn

stevestrat 1st October 2018 12:48

All done Lynn, Not quite sure how I planted you in Exmouth but you have been relocated to Newton Abbot. Link to website included as well.

MGR South Devon 1st October 2018 21:28

Thanks for amending but please can you delete Exeter Road after Newton Abbot.
We are actually in Milber at Milber Trading Estate, and it might confuse people if they look for Exeter Road Newton Abbot. Yes, confusing as our trading name is Exeter Road Garage, but that is a spin off from when we started in Exeter Road Kingsteignton back in 1985.
Thanks again
Lynn

stevestrat 2nd October 2018 09:20

Details amended and the map marker is now sitting at your front door. Be careful not to walk into it as you go out :D

I'm glad to see that's put right. I live in Teignmouth and family and friends have used your services on and off from the early days.---:icon_lol:

I hope you are all heading for a Merry Xmas.

You are already under the Yellow flag, so am i for the Nano club, unless you have to own a full T4 i am sure the virtual T4 is counted for on the map though. ;)

It's not that no one cares, a few members have asked after Steve, one has even called in to see him, sometimes real life takes over and the forum becomes immaterial.

It's good news that he's about. I thought for one moment this nasty little virus had done something to him.

Thanks Trikey

Please excuse this if it seems like a dumb question but, there appears to be no one within the M25 with a T4 which I find hard to believe. I'm trying to convince my mechanic to get his hands on one as he seems to spend a fair bit of time looking at my car -ahem - and, as I see quite a few 75s in my area.
So, question is: how much do they cost AND how much of a difference is there between a T4 and the regular diagnostic set up a typical garage might have?

cheers

Theo

Hi Theo, there is always Beech Hill Garage in Reading if that isn't too far for you.

I wouldn't imagine your mechanic would want to invest in one though !!

In London there is a system for sale !!

Ouch!
Having said that, if it draws in all the 75 owners......

Depends I guess how many parts it reaches that other diagnostic tools cannot reach...to coin a phrase :}

And of course its value will reduce quite quickly as our car numbers get less and less with age.

I doubt it Jon, as they are used for Land Rover Range Rover and late classic Mini models.

Most if not all of these have a larger residual value than the 75 and ZT excluding the V8 models, and certainly a larger following.

The 75 may be one of the most complex cars ever produced by Rover, but by no means the most desirable, or collectable (at the moment).

TestBook is needed for a great many operations, where other machines simply cannot be used.

Location, my hubby keeps them all over the house :duh:

Rover 75 T4

Thanks for this great map.

As I am in NW London it highkights that West End Lane Motors are the cloeset place to get a dianostics test done.

Do I definitely need a T4 specialist to read my Rover 75 (Auto 2.5v petrol) or can any decent garage be able to connect to the software system?

Thanks.
JD

Needs to be a T4. It was designed by MGR specifically to work with 75s etc.

T4 garage in the North East

I believe Turnbull Motors in Washington Newcastle upon Tyne have a T4 diagnostic machine, according to their website.

Can they be added to the T4 map

canan 18th January 2023 14:51

Hi Simon, Thanks for the reply.
Things have become strange.
I bought a Yesper yj20 so I could jump start the car until I had a solution.
After disconnecting the battery on Monday, today there was no power. So I connected the Yesper, but that didnt work either.
However, when pulled out the key, the engine began turning over continuously!!! I disconnected the Yesper, still the engine turned over. The only solution was to disconnect the negative terminal on the battery.

When I attempted to reconnect the terminal, sparks fly everywhere and the engines begins to turn over.

The negative terminal on the battery is now slightly damaged due to the sparking.
I frighten to connect the battery again.

Never seen anything like it.

Any ideas?

Hi Steve.
I think you will find that a lot of the traders on the map are no longer traders, but still have the T4 so they may need to be turned blue as opposed to red.

stevestrat 13th February 2023 10:11

I've updated the two I know of, Jules and Lovel. I did ask Gary (Lovel) if he wanted to be kept on the map but never heard back from him. Without the club PM system not sure how anyone would contact him

I was going to add the website for Jules garage but its disappeared, dead link. All I can find is a Facebook page which is in his info on the map.

I believe TS Autos are no longer in Stourbridge, can anyone confirm that and where he's located now.

Hi Can you advise the best reasonably priced diagnostic meter when a T4 is not available. I am in Mallorca with a 2002 75 2.0 Ctd. There is only one T4 on the island and it has a number of scratched discs which dont read.

I've never used it myself but some members use TOAF, a system developed by some Polish guys, https://toaf.roverki.eu/index.php/en/download-en

vitesse 10th June 2023 18:39

Good advice from the previous poster. I'm fortunate in having both a T4 and Toaf at home, but for general use I prefer Toaf, which in a way is optimised for diesels.

Toaf runs on any Windows system, free to use (donate if you wish) and requires an adapted KKL cable, this one works as it is: https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/174768878...04db%7Ciid%3A1

Another one bites the dust! Dreadnaught in Callander removed from the map after confirmation that their T4 has gone "phut" and can't be repaired.

I believe it was the last T4 north of the border.

Terry (TS Autos) is located at Munslow near Craven Arms, Shropshire SY7 9ET.

If you drive through the village, you'll often see a Rover or MG parked at the bottom of his drive.
