Oil Change
Could anybody tell me if you have to change the sump plug washer every time you do an oil change, like I am being told
Thanks Sent from my VFD 900 using Tapatalk |
Basically not needed every time, but a good idea to change it now and then. I have done oil changes were a new sump washer was desperately needed, without having a new one :)

Hi, you could try and anneal it yourself, there is some info here
We did them on a gas cooker. |
Only if it is copper though. :}
I have annealed the washer on my sump plug countless times with no problem. If it is an aluminium washer and you need to re-use it then just smear the last couple of threads of the bolt and top side of the washer with some Instant Gasket and you will be fine. |
For the cost incurred ,I would change it
|
The answer is yes you should, as it may well drip if the old one is reused.
|
:shrug: they are so inexpensive why would you NOT change it ?
Paul. |
Because if you anneal it there is no need to. ;) :D
|
I just give mine a polish on a bit of emery paper .:getmecoat::eek:
Never had one leak yet :} |
I change mine with a Pela pump, I also have no leaks:D
