Handbrake repair
Hi all,
The age old problem with the handbrake I need to replace brake shoes but also the compensator. The shoes no problem, and I know that the info is on here somewhere regarding the compensator replacement but I can't locate it. I need to know the correct part and the best place to acquire it and some instruction as to what it takes to replace it. Thanks Cheers Mike |

Have you checked the How To section on how to replace it? I'm sure someone can point you to a thread that explains how macafee2 |
MacAfee,
Many thanks will contact Artic re part and have another look to see if I can find the "how To", cheers Mike |
A lot of Steve's How to's have been compromised my Photobucket and Tinypic, so a lot of pictures have gone for now, but https://the75andztclub.co.uk/forum/s...d.php?t=220121

Better still, come to the October Nano meet and either do it there or Arctic (Steve) may have time to do it if you contact him. It's not too far from you and you could come for a day or the weekend. Martyn |
I changed my handbrake compensator recently whilst drying out my carpets in the greenhouse! I had bought one of the recommended BMW Mini versions and I couldnt believe how much better it is and holds on just 3-4 clicks now rather than pulling the handle up close to the roof!!! :)

Handbrake info
Artic,
Many thanks for all that info and the excellent set of "how to do " pictures. I will contact you when I have replaced the rear brake shoes and am ready to be able to return the old compensator. I am impressed it is only supposed to take about an hour...I may possibly take a bit longer! Thanks again all who passed on the info and for this excellent site for all of us who have great cars.
