Mg zs ev.

MG ZS EV to be launched in the UK September 2019.

Cant wait to see this, the range specs are 286 miles. https://insideevs.com/mg-zs-ev-to-be...eptember-2019/

humphshumphs 3rd February 2019 14:48

Going to be interesting to see it.

timspencer 14th February 2019 09:38

I work for a MG dealer and I am quite excited about this, if the price is reasonable and the range sensible it should do well!

RoverAlicante 14th February 2019 12:06

Very excited to have a MG dealer in Horsham West Sussex now- i'll be buying a ZS EV once they are in stock locally.

humphshumphs 14th February 2019 18:06

Was speaking to a MG sales manager today after booking in our ZS for it's first service and they are taking somewhere around £24k for the eZS and it sounds good, and they have fitted the batteries in the chassis apparently to keep the weight down and also keep the same sized boot.

Also the HS (replacement for the GS) is going to be available as a hybrid all wheel drive with a petrol engine driving the front wheels and an electric motor driving the rears.

Also mentioned a sports car coming in 2023.

It an exciting time for MG :)

victorgte 23rd February 2019 14:13

This is just what is needed albeit several years late. For the first time in years I thought seriously about buying a 16 plate Corsa. Not long now before I look seriously at a 2 or 3 years old ZS.

Lancpudn 7th March 2019 20:25

They're talking about it being a competitor to the Hyundai Kona which has been raved about.

There is a MG dealership down in Warrington I think? I'll go & have a gander at this come September. The MG eZS presented in China in 2018 was rated at up to 268 miles (431 km) which is in Kona territory.

All sounds good. :D

tidus72 15th March 2019 05:14

Sounds great :D

My only worry is can the very few dealers that are scattered about the UK actually work on these cars if they go wrong, warranty work etc ?

Electric vehicles need special maintenance, hence special technician training, will MG UK bother to invest money into this for us ? :getmecoat:

I wait in anticipation as this MG electrification will boost UK MG sales which would be fantastic, let's just hope they don't mess it up ;)

New sighting of the MG ZS EV out & about, It's in German.

Lancpudn 26th April 2019 09:08

Will these prices for the MG zs ev? $17,700.30/£13.734.26 to $22.170.00/£17.187.04 be for the UK or are they just for the China market?

I did read that the price would be sub £20000 for the UK somewhere else.

Latest info I read, I think on Autocars pages yesterday, was its due on 1st Sept and there will be plenty imported by then so long deliveries should not be a problem. £24000 price quoted again after government discount but it would have a high end spec.

Only downside was that Europeans more stringent testing had put the claims of 268 mile range as not even optimistic. They are saying it is only going to be 170 miles which of course in real terms will be less than this. Having said that they say it will make its range on par with the best selling Nissan Leaf.

MG eZS

This looks very interesting and a lot cheaper than the Kia eNiro which I has interested me. We are on our 2nd Prius after two Rover 75 Connoisseurs, the second one doing 75K and needing no exhaust, battery, timing belt etc.

It is good to have a reason to come back to this forum.

We are looking at replacing our ZS with a Hyundai IONIQ. Holding out for the facelift which is launched in July. I really wanted the ZS to be good and we were looking forward to the ZS EV but dealer support is poor. At least if there’s an issue with an EV IONIQ I can sort it myself although my qualification covers me for all EV’s ;)

I was surprised to read today MG has 92 dealerships in the UK  It was about a piece about them installing chargers in all the dealerships & EV training.

  • MG Motor UK begins implementation of an all-new set of standards specifically for hybrid and electric vehicles
  • Developments will include industry accredited training qualifications to equip MG staff and technicians with expert knowledge and tools to support customers
  • Each of MG’s 92-strong dealerships will feature a minimum of two on-site charging points
  • New set of standards implemented ahead of the MG ZS EV, which goes on sale in September
  • Orderbank for MG ZS EV is now open for customers wanting to secure their ZS EV for autumn delivery

From what I've read the initial run is for the UK only although that car looked to be left hand drive!

They're launching it in India too and installing all UK /India MG dealerships with fast chargers. https://insideevs.com/news/357990/mg...ging-stations/

Simondi 7th July 2019 08:42

Just wondering as the car is registered to Luxembourg and on test in the Netherlands.

Either way it looks a great car

There was a ZS EV in the Horsham dealership last weekend.

First close up walk round video review.

Dallas 19th July 2019 18:58

So... MG will match the government's £3500 plug-in car grant for the first 1000 ZS EV buyers in the UK, that's pretty impressive.

Does anyone know if the battery is included in the price, or is there a battery leasing scheme available?

The battery is included, only Renault have a leasing scheme for their BEV's which you can buy outright from them if you want to.

Thanks Ian, and it looks like MG will warranty the battery for seven years...

Its certainly a massive step forward for MG to build a SUV size EV, I reckon it will do well... I will wait for the price to come down some more before we take one for a test drive.

Morning Wes, Yes I agree it will sell very well at this price, It looks to have decent spec for the price too, Most of the BEV offerings by the EV manufacturers to date have only really been catering to affluent buyers.

It's good to see MG bring this ZS ev out at this price point. the price of new BEV's for "Mass market" buyers are slowly coming down to match new ICE vehicle prices.

Lots of new models coming out next year 2020 too by the PSA group & VW.

A few people on EV forums are complaining about the range of this MG saying it should be 200+ miles in this day & age but for my needs 163 (I think) would be no problem and I'd only need to charge it once a week.

I'm going to go and have a shuffty at my nearest MG dealer when they arrive in the showrooms in September for a closer look for future reference. It would be nice to have an MG sat on the drive.:D

I've only seen the petrol version of this MG ZS from a distant and I cant make up my mind whether it would be too big for our needs or not

This Kia Niro hybrid CUV I have is the perfect size and not too big. great for getting in & out of with my dodgy back :D

I know what you mean Ian, we have grown fond of our medium size Dacia Stepway mini SUV type vehicle, its the perfect size. Its little 900cc turbo charged engine is something else, it drives like a two litre.

When we had the Nissan Qashqai for two weeks as a courtesy car, we found it to be on the large size, it was horrible to drive. The proportions are all wrong, the length of the vehicle doesn't suit the height. The Qashqai is extremely long, but is low like a large estate car. The MG GS and ZS seem to be in proportion, but I reckon we may still find the size unnecessarily large for what we want.

We shall wait and see what unfolds over the next 12/24 months, see what Dacia has to offer, but it would be nice to have a new MG badge sat on the drive.

Lancpudn 27th July 2019 08:10

Looks like it will be popular! Over 750 orders taken in the first week since it's debut in the UK.

https://insideevs.com/news/361941/mg...ders-zs-ev-uk/

Dallas 27th July 2019 16:37

I wonder if it has anything to do with the £3,500 promotion for the first 1,000 customers, plus the plug-in grant?

Is it clever marketing by MG, are customers only buying to make that £7,000 saving, or are they falling in love with the MG brand one again?

We shall see... ;)

Simondi 27th July 2019 16:46

Its had good reviews from both Autoexpress & WhatCar. Even without the introductory offer its good value

Yeah lots of buzz around the EV forums on this MG zs ev, Speaking of home chargers Ford have just signed a deal with British gas to install fast charges in all their dealerships in Ireland & the UK and having their own brand of home charger too.
