Brilliant exmoor toll road.

Just been on a short tour of exmoor with my son. Here is a picture of our car entering the gate for the toll road leading from Porlock to Lynmouth. Great picturesque winding mountainous road, if you get the chance take it.

Done it several times - a real driving treat. Has to be one of my favourite roads.

As I remember, Porlock is extremely picturesque on it's own.

Porlock Weir is well worth a visit. I chose to take the steep road going up onto Exmoor, but took the easier Toll road coming back down, as I didn't want to overheat the cars brakes... :o :D:D

I remember my mum driving our family up Porlock Hill when I was a child - the steepest road I'd ever seen. Loved my road signs back then and got excited when she pointed out the 1 in 4 sign :-)

I did this with the wife last year, in torrential rain. Good fun, very pretty, but not all that comfy on 18" wheels...
|
Absolutely stunning drive - there's also one of the most picturesque cricket grounds on the Lynmouth side - in the Valley of the Rocks
