Silicone intercooler pipe for diesels.
Firstly I'd like to say a big thanks to Artic and Jules who were kind enough to supply samples to get this project moving & also to Walter for giving me a loan of a fbh that I can have in place to check clearances.
I haven't had time to fit tonight but will get it fitted tomorrow hopefully. My car has a boost gauge installed so will check if there's a difference when fitted. Some pics of the hose. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psxiro3qvo.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...ps4vfmvgis.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7kin1vm7.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psuucz5cls.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psqwag214t.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psjqvzxrlg.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psqwgwy2qc.jpg I'm hoping to get this installed tomorrow or over the weekend and I'll have more pics and comments once fitted. |

All fitted just going a test run. |
Is this a single piece from intercooler to egr?
|
It will be interesting to see if the boost gauge shows an improvement over the standard rubber hose.

This was supposed to have witness marks on where it was to be cut but I can't seem to see them but I'll have a closer look to check. |
Fitted pictures
Here's mine before removal notice the swelling.
http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...pswnlecsgy.jpg The original pipe has the sensor but it's not connected to anything so won't be cutting it. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psjvznkf3e.jpg Also was swollen that much it rubbed on chassis leg. (Pic didn't take properly so had to take a pic on the wife's car incase you wonder why its a blue chassis leg and my zts red) http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...pschfvlaiy.jpg Side by side. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psilvzlaue.jpg To check fitment I removed the elbow. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psh7fd6udp.jpg Looks a nice snug fit. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psozecsmlv.jpg Refitted elbow and fitted pipe. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...pssubntzq4.jpg Fitted the FBH to check clearances. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...pstnmzrwct.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psndg6kkjm.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psxzultlxc.jpg http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...ps0ugmxksc.jpg Now have clearance from chassis leg. http://i1189.photobucket.com/albums/...psujvrmt61.jpg I've been out a test drive and the car feels smoother and also a slight increase in boost according to the gauge. I also noticed the boost remained around 19-20 when under load where it dropped slightly before. What do fellow members think. |
Looks like it works :D
|
Well done, could be a goer then :D
|
This is exactly what nearly every diesel owner needs, well done.
