strange hesitation !!! MG ZT 1.8T
just dropped my daughter off at a party and on the way home on a fast road I put my foot down, rev's got too 3600rpm then nothing for a second, just like you turned the ignition off. but after that second it carried on climbing up the rev range. I slowed down and tried it again and the same thing. on the 3rd attempt it pulled right through but ran out of road to try it a 4th time. I don't think its an electrical misfire but could be turbo ????? anyone had a similar thing

My 1.8t had the same issue. Changed the coil packs, checked the plug gaps. Been ok since.

Wot Bob said! If the coil packs are past their best you can get a hesitation under "enthusiastic" acceleration. The 1.8T responds best if the plug gap is set to 0.7mm.

cheers lads, the plugs are new as the P.O. give the car a service but i'll check em anyway. i was thinking about changing the coil packs just the other day as the idle wonders from 820 to 850 rpm !! I'll get some ordered ;)

I agree with the good advice given above. I had similar, some time ago, so renewed the plugs with a reduced gap, cleaned the cam-position sensor and added a dose of Redex, the problem was solved. The plugs I used came out of the box with a 1mm gap; this may have been the main factor.

Have a read here - symptoms could be Turbo over boosting .

Do you have the FOC fitted? I mean the Fabled Orange Clip. If not get one fitted asap.
