confused about diesel clutch slave cylinder

I'm confused about diesel clutch slave cylinder part number.
Rimmers show https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-UUB000070 part number UUB000070 and https://rimmerbros.com/Item--i-GRID001916 item 6, part number UUB105302

what is the difference? Is UUB000070 an upgrade and better cylinder?

thanks

The first link UUB000070 is the Tazu metal slave branded as genuine MGR, and in my opinion not fit for purpose due to poor manufacture ;)

I've personally seen at least five cars fitted with this part where the thrust bearing has failed prematurely, presumably as the bearing appears in the two I've carried out post mortem checks upon, to be completely devoid of any lubrication whatsoever.

Brian, if I need a salve which make do you suggest?
Thought of doing the job once fills me with fear, thought of doing it twice
is almost enough to put me off buying the car.

Ian, I would probably go for something like THIS and either modify the fitted pipework with a brake pipe bending tool, or simply fit the pipework from the original slave, which is a doddle to do but does mean it will require bleeding afterwards.

It beats paying an extra £50 for the Rover version which is identical apart from the inlet pipe being a couple of inches shorter than the Freelander slave ;)

Thanks Brian, also has 5 year guarantee.
Using exiting pipe work should not be a problem as the car will be in bits anyway.

metal, plastic, metal, plastic, I know which ever I get will be wrong

who made the original slaves?

I think it was AP - a couple of owners on here have fitted a slave sold by Delphi which is apparently made using the original AP tooling. It costs about 120 pounds, but reports so far seem to indicate it is a good item. I think someone else reported that they got a genuine AP slave through Andrew Page, if I remember correctly.

Phil

Who is your X-part supplier, if you do not mind me asking ? I think my Tazu slave comes from a batch with poor greasing of the release bearing, as I have some release bearing noise after 8,000 miles.

Cheers

Pete

Nick over at BS Motors Pete, he mentioned a month or so ago they had been sorted and has none returned from the "new" batches whereas the previous return rate was quite high and X-part where paying out compensation for replacement parts and labour!
