Stepping down

Darcydug, MGJohn and their pals have won. I do not have the time, energy or inclination to deal with them anymore.
I want to enjoy my hobby not have it as a millstone round my neck.
As such I am today stepping down as a moderator.

I am not doing this because I have been asked to, nor that I have done anything wrong as I have not.

The club rules are perfectly clear.

I am stepping down as I no longer can be bothered having to read and moderate the biggoted, xenophobic right wing drivel being spouted by certain members. I have had a traumatic time health wise recently and thanks to these guys I get very little pleasure in this club any more - at a time when really I need it.
Life is more important than this.

Very sorry to hear this. Cant you use the BAN button? You shouldn't or anyone have to have to troll trough pages of posts to stop these sort of people posting that sort of thing. Its a club for like minded people with one thing in common.
I feel your pain. On a brighter note I hope you get up to feeling like your old self again.:wine:

I am sorry to read this and we should all take serious note, we can have our disagreements but lets not go too far and leave people feeling this way. If we do, we not only risk losing people, sections of the forum but even the forum

I am sorry to read that your stepping down. I have always found that your moderation has been more than fair, unfortunately in all clubs and societies there will always be a few individuals who will push the boundaries beyond the clubs rules.

Now you will have time to enjoy your hobbies and other things.

very sad to hear about this, all forums only function because of the altruistic motives and freely given hard work people put into them. I am a member of several and this one is exceptional, especially for the breadth and quality of knowledge it passes on to anyone seeking help with their cars. May I suggest though that " non rover/mg" car related subjects are scrapped. My 70 plus years have taught me that politics and religion are subjects that should never be discussed between friends. This forum has a very friendly ethos that could easily be destroyed if these subjects are allowed to creep into the motoring sphere. I would imagine being a moderator is a thankless task at the best of times so unless we wish to see them all leave then it really is time to give them a break.

Sorry to hear this Simon - always thought you did a great job on the green team.

Georgies Dad 20th August 2021 11:58

Simon, you have done nothing wrong (probably could have closed down a lot of the drivel earlier)

You should not be forced to leave because of a few idiots who are hell bent in preaching their bias point of view to us all.

Paul ,should now step in and get rid of these individuals before they ruin our great club and force others to leave
Bigger names than them have been banned in the past and they are soon forgotten.

We need our Green Team ,and they should be praised for the job they are doing, not bad mouthed by certain members.

Chuck them out.

Sorry to hear this Simondi.

I know where you are coming from as I am a mod on a forum and as you say it becomes a burden when you have to keep a constant vigil for certain individuals. I am able to ban them first for a short period and then indefinately if problems persist?

Unfortunately in this modern world it is so easy for some individuals to sit at a keyboard and spout pish that they would never do if they were in a face to face meeting. It becomes a game for them.

Enjoy your retirement from this grief and best wishes.

I know the feeling Simon mate, been there got the tee shirt you start to wonder why you even bother whilst putting up with all the vitriol!

Best Jim
