rain sensor rover75 2003 v6 manual

could somebody please explain to me how the rain sensor works on a 2003 rover 75 : thanks

It detects a pattern in the area of the screen where the sensor is and switches the wipers on accordingly.

KWIL 16th June 2021 21:37

Works as follows. When dry an internal IR beam is by internal reflection at the glass/air surface back to a detector, when sufficiently wet some of the beam escapes and the detector no longer receives the same level and hence initiates the wipe.

Refraction of light Cyril. Do you remember that from your 'O' level physics? :D

Slightly more like dispersion than refraction.. The drop of water fragments the light beam. Thus reducing its strength.
