Chrome Door Finishers

Hi guys,

I've got the chance to get a set of chromed door finishers for a very good price. I've wanted a set for quite a while but was not willing to pay the ridiculous prices people ask here in Germany (they're really rare to begin with but 300€ is really pushing it IMO).

Now I need to know how to remove them, as the owner doesn't know either. I'm sure you guys know though. I will also need instructions on how to fit them again on my car.

Thanks in advance!

Cheers
Toby

Are they original plastic, or chromed brass? I would run a piece of fishing line or similar behind to loosen them off. Refitting, you can use a silicone product or strong double sided tape.

You know you can get them new on ebay for £60

If the seller wont send to Germany then I could do that for you for postage.

Thats not a bad price if they are the metal ones that our friend Mr Croft did. I have them fitted and they are perfect. The price was then £50 about 4/5 years ago.

Personally thought the Croft’s were rubbish if I’m honest.

Can I ask why?

What makes you think the metal ones are rubbish? I had my metal "Crofts" door finishers fitted some years ago by an accredited Range Rover /(former) Rover body shop. They didn't use silicone - would melt over time in our hot weather.
After these years, mine still look like new.

Here in my part of OZ, We have been sweltering with temperatures as high as 49 deg celsius in some areas. Many plastics don't like high temperatures nor high UV - we have been having "Extreme" ultra violet radiation of late.

Dave aka Crofts went out of his way to arrange the manufacture and finishing of his door finishers - without any real reward for himself. His only wish was that members didn't profiteer by on-selling above the original price that he was able to negotiate with the manufacturers.

Sad that Crofts is no longer active in this club.

Sad indeed.
Anyone heard from him lately?
His pride & joy is still going strong though, and (the original?) Croft’s finishers are still looking great.😄

Thanks, but I managed to get them in like-new condition for 25€ (around £22) :D

They came off of a Silverstone Edition Tourer. They were pretty easy to get off really as the glue wasn't exactly that strong anymore. Refitted them today on mine and they look great!

Thanks for all the kind and helpful answers. Really appreciate it!

I bought mine from Crofts many years ago. They were his second batch I seem to remember. I stuck them on using silicon, and they are still there. Unfortunately, despite being very smart, they tarnished easily from quite early on, and constant polishing has given two of them a distinctly brassy tinge. I may have to replace them. Has anyone else had this problem?
