Awful day today

Our dear old Puss Merlin had a one way trip to the Docs today.
at 18 had a good innings but still devastated even thought it was expected to happen eventually.

He had an Op on Moday to sort out some bad toothache and he didn't get on well with the Anesthetic. was Ok for 2 days then went downhill very quickly and lost his mobility .

RIP Merley :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Sorry too hear of your loss I know all too well what its like too lose a family member and that's what pets become family.

I've done it 10? times in the past 11 years, I think it's only fair to be there and hold their paw as they pass on... sometimes you aren't that affected (like people, some animals you don't actually like) sometimes you find yourself sat in your car having a little cry afterwards, and it can be for one you didn't think you'd miss......

I think I have mentioned this before but I arrived home to find one of our cats sat by the door holding up a very floppy paw, oh heavens (swear filter friendly term) I thought, what have you done..... my next thought was this won't be cheap.... it wasn't, I spent about £1K on Xrays etc, she had basically ripped the paw off :( When I said enough I was sent to the RSPCA place in Salford (which was like the third circle of hell tbh but....) and they said the only option was to amputate the leg. She survived the operation and the recovery from the anaesthetic but died in her sleep the night after... a thousand quid....

So sad when that happens, a very good age for a puss.

Sorry to hear this - we had our sixteen and a half year old dog put to sleep five weeks ago tomorrow. Still very raw.

But we are grateful he lived as long as he did - it was a heck of an age for his breed.

Sorry for your loss.
Never easy when you have to make the decision to let a good friend and family member go over the rainbow bridge.
