Vented Rear Discs Retro Fit?
 

Could I fit vented Rear discs onto my Tourer, and secondly would they be of any benefit.
Thinking more of Towing down a lot of Mountainous Roads?

Was it Zeb who was asking about vented discs but couldn't find a suitable manufacturer?

The vents help cooling of the discs, especially under heavier use.

If your discs are getting a fair amount of use then the vented ones would help to improve brake fade and increase performance. I presume the grooves on some discs are to help remove water from the braking surface further enhancing performance during wet conditions (a godsend given this weekends weather!).

Bear in mind though, you would need to upgrade the front discs too. If you don't, you may find that your rear discs will out-perform your fronts and at a critical moment and you may find the rears locking before the front do, thus creating a "tricky" situation to be in... :panic:

I've already got the "Super Groved" Vented discs shown on EBC site for front wheels which is why I was wondering about the back, the front original vented discs were changed because of Brake fade sometimes on my Journeys across Snowdonia, more so in all this wet., and you use them more with the auto box I find

The ABS should prevent that happening. I suspect fitting vented/grooved disks to the rear will have virtually no discernable effect on braking for the 'average' driver.

Cheers for all your comments, may fit them so that all 4 wheels match, won't be worse and may help slow down better on the Steep Gradients. Another Job for Lates when he does my Gearbox Oil change!

had you bought a proper car with a petrol V6 engine the vented discs are standard fit (tourer ) .

Not me guv....

iirc vented discs, ie. with holes in them, are more likely to fracture if they overheat.....:lol:
