1.5 Minute Wheel Wash
Ok Folks often a wheel can look the dirtiest part of a vehicle and just a clean of the wheels can give an improvement to the overall look of a vehicle, perhaps you dont wish to drag out the power washer to wash and rinse the vehicle.
Maybe you dont wish to use a wash mitt on the wheels when doing a bucket wash.... Well here is a way i have done the wheels for well over a year from time to time. So we Have the Largest Envy style brush... Size 16 unless they do larger. Cheap Spray Bottle with a Big Foaming Head added, holding some week solution of Autobrite's Very Cherry Non Acid Wheel Cleaner... You put in what you wish. It was a consistent 1.5 minutes on the polo wheels, not intricate or large as they are.. I would not use Iron-x myself as a wheel cleaner far too expensive for that.
Would use after a good clean if i was going to clay and seal them. Have done some far far worse in 3 Mins....:D |
Iron-X first, then seal the wheel, i use FK1000P because its heat proof. Then when the wheels get dirty just use Diluted Iron-x and rinse.

Iron-X is good stuff, but it does not dilute you need chemicals to dilute water will not dilute it par say.
FK1000P is a great product great on panels and on wheels.... its not heat proof mind, its just its melting point is.. (around 260-280 degrees c) ...:D |
Heat proof might be stretching it a bit, heat resistant is probably more accurate. It doesn't break down due to the radiant heat of the brakes like a bodywork wax would.
I iuse a 4:1 Iron-x mix on my wheels and its fine and still works, just spray on and hose off. I dont store it diluted though, i make it up at the time. Best thing about it is that even the dirt on the inside of the wheel just washes away. |
