Rover 75 - Alarm and Water in Boot

Hi all

I'm a novice to the Club. I have a fab 2000 SE Classic that I am very pleased with.

However, recently have problem with water leakage in the boot. Can't see where it is coming from but drips from the right side of body where the boot lid is fixed. Any help appreciated.

Also, I have a problem arming the alarm. The door open light comes on when car engine is running, even though all the doors and boot/bonnet are shut. I'm wondering if there is a sensor at fault? I have cleaned all the locks but problem is still there. Because of this when I lock the car, the alarm keeps setting off.

Hi and welcome to the club,

One thing to check for the leak is the rear light cluster as water can seep in thur the seal or thur the chrome trim on that side and a bit of mastic on the inside of the trim has been know to cure that, for the door open light i would look at your bonnet stops as theses can be a common cause for making the light to come on.

Yup, I'll second that!

There are also adjustable stops on the boot-lid. The striker plate can be adjusted if it's been pushed back, by slackening the pair of Torx screws.

The bonnet switch can be operated manually for checking, but I don't know if the boot one is accessible. Water damage is a possibility, though that may be coincidental.
