Treated myself to a camera...
I've never had anything more than compact type camera before, and for the last 8 or so years I've only had a camera on my phone. Which was fine for quick snaps of the kids and for holidays, but after getting my new bike I started to find some nice places, which my phone didn't do justice to.
The camera I chose is a bridge camera, a Canon, 20MP with something like 45x zoom. I took it on holiday with us last week as I knew we were going on the North Norfolk railway, so thought it'd be a good opportunity for a few shots. Heres a few I had while trying to figure out how it worked. I popped out on the bike today and had a play around with different settings, just need to sort through them and see if any of them are actually any good. *edit* resized so they don't make the page ridiculously huge, but quality seriously affected... https://i.imgur.com/5rZP35Y.jpg?1R https://i.imgur.com/mC52EQR.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/QjWebUR.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/4UE59J9.jpg?1 https://i.imgur.com/sYOi63h.jpg?1 |
A great range of photos with lovely clarity and the bonus with the Canon bridge camera is how light it is and one lens does everything. Here is a photo I took in January 2013 in Kenya with a Canon bridge camera which I later donated to my wife. It does really good video and the image stability is a useful feature. Enjoy your camera and I look forward to seeing more of your photos. Thank you for sharing.

I still shoot with the Canon SX cameras. Basically because I could never justify the £5,000 price of a good long reach lens for my 5D.

Great pics Derrick, I must start using my bridge camera's.
I bought a Fuji about 6 years ago along with tripod and bag etc, then I bought a Hitachi which I've never really used as I find it too complicated. :duh: I seem to prefer my smaller Samsung compact camera for ease of use, but I reckon I'm missing out on some good quality shots it seems. |
I have to say, I know I've never had a decent or semi-proper camera before, but I'm impressed with the ability of this camera so far. Less impressed with the lack of quality when posting here, but the only way I can see to share them is to upload to a site like Imgur and then resize.
I only really bought it as I'd been out for a ride on the new bike, exploring some small country roads and stumbled across the Welland Valley Viaduct. I found a good vantage point and wanted to take some half decent photos of it. I'll start a separate thread that I'll keep updated with photos I've taken while out on the bike. |
Some great photos there.
Have you tried flickr? You can link images to here in various sizes with no loss of quality. |
