Rear suspension bushings
Hi all finally started working on my 75 connoisseur as I seem to have a bit of time on my hands due to lock down and garage cleared out to get the car in.so I've started to strip the rear suspension apart to referb got both trailing arms off and looking at the bushes they all look prity solid but before I removed it from the body I could swin the arm 2 to 3 inc side to side is that movement with the weight of arm hanging on normal or has the rubber just gone soft and worn-out . As the bushes have probably been in from new 2001. Any thoughts

So you remove the three fixing points at the back of the arm, in the form of the upper and lower arms, and the damper bolt, leaving you with a large cast iron structure with a fulcrum at it's most forward point........I would say 2 to 3 inches of side to side movement will be fine ;) I wouldn't worry too much about it if I were you, if the bushes look physically okay, they will be fit for further service  Brian :D |
Thank you Brian
Glad you picked up on the thread i thought they would be OK better to have a second opinion The cars only got 86000 miles on the clock and don't think it's had a hard life. Think I'll change the rose bushes ( think that's what you call them ) Cheers Gary |
