"Surprising BMW drivers everywhere"
Do not know if this has been posted here before but, no harm if it is a repeat. Well worth a look.
Heads up alert for Geordie Brian... lots of MG ZT V8 content ...:D Things like that are good to see and make a refreshing change from the all too frequent negativity. Quote:

This is the only surprise a BMW driver would get. Otherwise a standard 260 would only surprise the other driver as to how fast it was disappearing in their rear view mirror, or how fast the 260 owner pulled into the petrol station.
|
I thought the "surprising BMW drivers" bit was when you told them that their cars are in fact fitted with indicators like everyone else's.

We do seem to suffer from what I call the 'British disease' on here.
Years ago whenever I mentioned a Mustang V8 to anyone they would raise a smile and be thinking 'sounds fun!'. Now when you mention the MG ZT 260, people say it's poor ('poor' replacing a rude word starting with s ending it t). Is it because it's in a British car that it suddenly became rubbish? |
There's no specific info about the car on the 260s site. The Ebay ad gets a mention in the cars advertised for sale section:
Originally listed 27/3/2018 at £10,495, Last advertised price £9,995 05/03/2019 Listing changed to Auction. No indication of (any) reserve. 2005 MG ZT 260 (non-SE), Starlight Silver, 65,000 Miles, £Auction, VIN #323 Its a non SE (manual rear windows etc) and going by the photos looks still low spec, can't see evidence of any retrofitted upgrades. Mine started out non SE but by the time I got it had been retrofitted with just about everything to bring it to SE spec. |

The one being auctioned now, #323, is/was in Cornwall. Someone here, SwissTony ????? went to look at the Gateshead one, and was impressed I believe, but settled for a ZT-T instead. |

I am thinking that 260 in Gateshead has a bit of a chequered history IIRC.

Everytime I hear someone say 'British cars are s#*t', 'the British can't build cars' etc etc, I ask them 'So why are nearly all the F1 cars made in this country?'
It's the same with a friend of mine who likes to mock me for 'driving a Rover' (it's actually an MG, although I do own two Rovers aswell, but anyway). I ask him to point out what bit he thinks is 'c*@p', and explain to me in full technical, engineering detail, why it is 'c*@p'? He then walks off mumbling. This is what it has come to, people somehow know Rovers (and British cars in general) are 'c*@p', but don't actually know anything about them or cars in general and are unable to come up with any explanation based on upon engineering science to explain why they believe they are 'c*@p'. |
I've had no end of silly comments over the 16 years I've been driving (all of which have been Rover/MG Rover cars).
Was out washing my 220 Coupe Turbo one day and a lad walked past and said 'can I have it for banger racing?' (trying to be funny). I said 'No'. He then went on to say how he 'knows about cars and the headgasket will only go on it anyway'. I then explained this is a T-Series engine, not the K-series, although I've had three of those and never had a problem. After a bit more nonsense he gave up and walked off mumbling about something or another. I used to get no end of people saying how I 'should've bought the Honda instead' in respect to my old 214Si, as 'that had a real wood dash board not the fake plastic one in this'. I then explain how they have their 'facts' NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- about face, the plastic fake wood was in the Honda Concerto, the real walnut veneer was in the Rover. Not to mention 'should've got a proper car' etc etc. |
