Strange noise from the wheels
Driving home from work yesterday, I could hear a strange squeaking noise which sped up and slowed down with road speed. I never heard it over 10mph but its very intermittent. I haven't been able to find out exactly which wheel its coming from yet. Braking seems to stop it but they squeal anyway!
My first thought was a wheel bearing but wanted to ask on the forum incase it could be something else. Any thoughts? Thanks in advance |
Wheel bearings don't squeak .. usually they rumble. Squeaking is probably brakes.

To start with, I would check the obvious - brake pads. Also, check that the brakes are not binding. |
Touch the wheels after a run and see if any are a tad hot. Might be a stuck pad. Or the slider has seized. I had this a few weeks ago.

I had a not dissimilar noise on my 75 - turned out that a handbrake shoe locating pin had pulled through the backplate and was rolling about inside the drum.
