8000 posts and a time to reflect.

Well I have now hit 8000 posts and also been a member of this fine club for over 7 years.
Ive seen alot of changes in these 7 and a half years and have made a few friends on here.

I have also learnt a fair bit from this club and its members and for that I am eternally grateful.

Im not going to bore people with my whole car history so I will just go with the 75 part of my history.

I found a 75 in a garage on the Isle of Wight and went with my father to look at it. We then took it out for a test drive and went back to check the finance situation.

They wouldnt offer me the finance on the car as they said it was to high a insurance group but would offer me the finance on a lower insurance group car.

Feeling dejected (now slightly happy as I dont like finance) I went home.

2 months later a 75 came up for sale as 2.5 v6 hgf.

My dad fancied a project so we went and had a look at the car.

Got there and it was the 75 I tried to get finance for a couple months earlier.

We topped up the water and my dad took it for a drive.
Straight when he got back he said to me thats not hgf.

We bartered the price and now not me but indirectly owned a 75( unbeknown to us was a launch car)

I then decided to get myself a 75.

A cheap 75 came up with some bodywork issues.
This 75 only lasted 15 miles before the clutch gave up:mad:
Found out the previous owner just topped up the fluid under the dash to get me home:mad::mad::mad:.

I was then without a 75 and someone was giving one away on here. Tonybubble got in first but then graciously offered me the car.

I am truely grateful for this.
On the way to pick this car up Paul aka Reebs gave me a set of croft finishers(thankyou sir:bowdown:)
I was then the proud owner of a 2.5 v6 connoisseur se.

Unfortunately the engine on this one was a bit tired and no amount of oil changes and engine flushes cured this.

It was a lovely spec with cream leather and being an se had dip rear mirror etc.

Next up was an S reg pre production 75.
I never thought I would get one.
This one was on ebay and after a bit of negotiation it was mine.

The headgasket was sorted and also new carpet installed.
I just could not gel with the car as in my eyes a luxury car should have a v engine and also an auto box.

This was a 1.8 manual.

It did have the all important black hazard surround though:}

http://i893.photobucket.com/albums/a...m/8c75d39a.jpg

I then sold this to a member on here called scouse1958 who still has it.

I then went a while without a 75 in the family.

My dad wanted another 75 so we found a Dorchester red 75 (jap spec)
This one had some problems and was sold on after a little while

Then after a while longer I decided I wanted another 75 and the only spec that I wanted was a launch car.
Got told by Petetourer on here that Shiner on here had one.

I contacted him and decided to collect it after work one night.
Here is the first picture of my new launch car.
I got home after midnight and needed to be at work at 8am

I have had this car for over 2 years now and its the longest I have ever owned a car and will stay with me forever:D

Then I got contacted by someone who was selling thier fathers launch car and so my father got himself a launch car aswell:}

Here it is before we got it as I saw it at Tesco

I then was sat at work and saw someone selling a diesel auto tourer on here and so made contact I then bought it.
To be honest I could not get on with the engine as it was not as economical as I thought it would be.

Would I have another now...Yes I would. The MPG is not brilliant but is 8mpg better than the v6 auto. Would I have one instead of a v6 definately not.

Anyway I was delivering to a customer and just round the corner was another 75 launch car. I pulled up in the Tesco van and had a chat.

Then a couple days later I went round in my launch car and he helped sort my highline screen out:}

Well that was that. I now own a 75 launch car and so does my father.
I then got myself an 800 vitesse(but thats not a 75 so not putting a picture on this post)

I then went into work a couple of months ago and I had a letter.
It was from the man with the launch car pictured above. He came into Tesco found a driver and told him to give me this(They knew who to give it to as he said a rover fan:D)

I phoned the chap up and as no answer I txted him to let him know I couldnt buy the car.

Well anyway long story short this happened:D

It was picked up by a great member on here thoroughly recommended.

This is currently where I stand.
I have 2 rover 75 launch cars
V114HDY owned from 14/02/2014

T275MJN owned from 23/02/2016

My fathers 75 launch car

T34BDV owned from 02/11/2014

I love the 75 brand and will always stick up for them.

I have had many people comment on what lovely cars they are.

Actually this morning sat in the car an old couple come up to the car while I was sat inside and they had a look around the car and said what a lovely car it was (things like that make me feel proud that I own one of Britains fine cars:})

Thanks for reading and well done if you got this far
Thomas

Thankyou Paul:} The problem with it is that it veers off course. I have tried resetting the point on it but nothing works.
