Hello Mike.
Would you mind giving the link for the EBay ads you're talking about? I can't find it out. Thanks a lot. Arnaud |

I don't need the whole lot which is more expensive without necessity for my use. I'm just after the gold resistor. I've sent a message to Jules but no answer so far: possibly on holidays? Regarding the one DMGRS is selling, I saw on the website that they require several confidential details (such as those figuring on income papers and the like we are told in France NOT to communicate to anyone but on government secured website only) from their European customers! "IMPORTANT NOTE - Due to Brexit, all EU orders must be accompanied by your Tax Identification Number for Customs clearance." https://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/02...xamples_en.pdf Never so far Rimmerbros asked for such details! Are Mat & Scott wanting to spare us?? |
First I've heard of this, and I agree scary, EU masters (or mistress) dictating even more rules? Good luck with your demonstrations, perhaps more of us should protest! I'm not going to play their silly games, will have to read more.
If you need a gold resistor then I can help without your having to reveal any social security number or the like :} Send a mail with your contact details. Mike ps Read about a lorry driver who was refused entry at the border as he didn't have the correct paperwork for his sandwich. |

Confirmation of the VAT collected must be done electronically using an eBay printed delivery label containing a QR code, or a similar QR coded, printed label from Royal Mail. In eBay's case, that label costs the seller 70p. The item must also be sent to eBay's own Distribution Centre and not directly to the buyer. Alternatively, to use Royal Mail's Click and Drop label printing service, the seller must be registered as a BT business customer. I understand a similar arrangement between eBay and Australia has been in operation for some time already. This is to ensure Import Duty is collected before delivery. The other way this will work is through the standard customs declaration label (CN22). So, if you as a private individual have something you want to sell on eBay and include the EU in your delivery area, VAT will be charged before an EU buyer can receive the item. It's your responsibility to certify this electronically. The only way to do that is as described above. So basically, eBay will morph into a selling system for commercial operators only and the likes of you, me and Joe Bloggs will be out of it. TC |
So far I've recently ordered from EBay and Rimmers British items and none asked me to provide confidential details. Why on earth does DMGRS ask for them?

EDIT: I suppose if you were a VAT registered company purchasing the item, then it might be appropriate that a VAT registered seller asks you for those details. TC |
eBay UK is of little interest nowadays to us in foreign parts especially those sellers who don't actively opt out and use the Global Shipping Program. Adds to the cost and triples the delivery time.
I now search primarily EU when I need something, the Latvians seem to have lots of s/h Rover 75 parts, at reasonable prices and the traction control motor I received last week was so well washed it looked new. That latest piece of news from Dorchester2 about civic numbers is especially unwelcome, people here as in France don't like sharing personal information. But on the other hand authorities here never ask your name instead you're expected to provide them with your civic number and then they might confirm your identify with your name. I've received parts from DMGRS earlier this year and paid VAT & a handling charge at point of entry which was the Netherlands, but all went quite smoothly. Seems the only thing missing at present between UK and the EU is a formal declaration of war! Regards |

Rather better news: without any return from Jules, I've just ordered from DMGRS the gold resistor.
No cheeky asking of any confidential details and the shipping is rather sensible: £4.49 for France by snail mail. Otherwise it could have been £7.49 for a faster delivery. The resistor itself being £7.49. So why all that fuss about those so called mandatory details? Mystery. So wait and see, I'll keep you posted for further developments if any. |
