I know that there is a data sheet on the main club site with details of the breakdown,

Excellent Paul. I have some further detail:

Digits 1-3: World make identifier
S = Europe
A = U.K.
R = MG Rover

Digit 8: Engine type
A suggestion: would K and L be better described as 2.0 V6 petrol and 2.5 V6 petrol? After all 2.0 and 2000 is the same thing. :)
This would also apply to the entries for digit 9.

Simon.

Summat's amiss here. I've checked my VIN against the listings and find a discrepancy in digit 9. Mine's 'E' which translates into a Rover 75 2.5 manual gearbox, except mine's a 1.8Turbo manual. According to the listing, mine should be 'G'.

Have I got the wrong VIN? Have I got the wrong car? Have I got anything to worry about?

Interestingly, my Registration Document states my MG is a ZT+ yet the trim code on the VIN suggests it's just a basic trim model. Puzzling...:confused:

Curiouser and curiouser said Alice.

My car's registered as a Connoisseur, yet the trim code (Digit 6) says it's a Club!
And annoyingly, the identity sticker/tag stuck on the central pillar has been 'vandalised' to hide one of the figures. Is it a pig in a poke?

Very odd?!? I take it, the VIN number on the B pillar matches the one in the windscreen, it would be interesting to see what VIN number your Reg throws up in the EPC. I could check if you want.

Thanks,

I have modified the post somewhat.

Just checked mine out and is the same as T-Cuts .Conny down as a club and is also a 1.8T but the vin digit 9 shows as a 2.5. Maybe Rover just got a bit sloppy with recording stuff towards the end?

lightningmark 19th October 2010 16:29

Mine`s same as Grendel, log book says ZT+ CDTI but your checker says it`s a base model?

Kai Herb 19th October 2010 17:03

On my vin plate it states base+ rather than base (ive got 4xelectric windows and dual air con) :confused:
