75 diesel vac pipe
 

I replaced the brake vac pipe on my diesel using injector leak off pipe last year or the year before as it has a reinforced outer covering and I thought it would last longer. I’ve noticed over the last week after using the car more than usual that the pedal will sometimes still go hard. It’s only happened a couple of times but that’s frankly a couple of times too many. I think it happens when I’ve used the brakes a lot over a short period as its been when ive struggled to get the car on the drive due to other parked cars and im on and off the brakes. There are no splits so I’m guessing the bore may be slightly thinner depleting the vacuum as the pedal returns to normal on the second press? Looking on Rimmers site I can only see the main servo plastic pipe. Can anybody help with a part number or somewhere that can source of the correct pipe?

I have used injector leak off hose a few times and it as been fine, what size did you purchase 3.2 ? or is your leak off hose 2.7 I think the next size up is 4.5 I will try and check what I have in the shed ;)

Thanks, I appreciate that Im not sure of the size, it was just what i had in my tool box so I replaced it as a precaution. I will measure it later.

I don't think so they seem quite reliable and it's not the highest of mileage cars, that's no indication of course. It seems to do it when I'm on and off the brakes more than what normally would be usual. Normal road use is fine.

I checked the hose I have which is used for the EGR, and I found one piece to be 2.7 to small one piece 3.2 which fts but is very tight, I also measure the solenoid outlet and it's 4.59mm so I would suggest that 4.5 is the ideal hose to purchase.

Don't want to be the harbinger of doom but possible brake servo problem. It's a common fault with the 2.7ltr diesel Jaguar. They tend to go at about 110,000 miles (I know to my cost). 😭

I’ve parked the 75 up and it will sit there until I’ve replaced the pipe and I’m happy. I removed the pipe at the servo pipe one way valve as this was the easiest to get to. The bore was around 4mm but the pipe felt quite hard and brittle, I cut the end off and the internal diameter was closer to 3mm so I will go with Steve’s suggestion of 4.5mm

link below where I purchase my vacuum hose from, the drop down link allows you to pick what size you need, maybe a 3.2 & a 4.5 might be best just in case, but as previously stated 3.2 did feel really tight.
