This is very true, it is the dedicated owners like us that are the life blood of the MG/Rover owners clubs. But none of the vehicles manufactured in 98/99 are listed.

In your blog, I wonder what had happened to the Tourer at the bottom of the heap in the first photo? Apart from looking depressingly like mine (by which I mean it's depressing to see a car that looks like mine meeting this fate) it also looks to be a V8? I can't imagine terminal rust, so, unless the whole right hand side of the car, which we can't see, was stoved in, it would be something mechanical. This also means it was potentially fixable. What a waste....

How Many Left?

The final line in the article has a link to some tables of statistics that make fascinating reading. If you think you've got something a little rare, check it out. For example, seems like if you've got a Contemporary SE V6 Tourer then you didn't tax it last year!:D

I Noticed in the last quarter of 98 which would include January, February 1999 only 2 cars were registered. I have one and scouse1958 has the other now that is rare :D with concurring vin numbers. It is a very useful piece of data, gives us a very good idea of how many is left. And it is not as many as we might of thought according to dvla. :(

The cars in the picture were the MGR protoype/development cars left at Longbridge in 2005 and crushed by MG Motors about 18 months ago, including 3 V8s (one of them possibly the unique 75 V8 LWB). :(

Hi all, if I am reading that chart correctly, my tourer connie se cdt is 1 of 11 taxed in quarter 2 in 2011. I must be missing something, there must be more than 11 of them !
Regards Mark

I am not sure on the integrity of the data when it goes to the actual model type.
For example, I have a Connoisseur SE V6 and according to these records there are only 70 of them.

There are also Connoisseur SE listed, with no engine type specified, and these come out at 2600 of them.
I guess mine is listed within that number, lumped in with 1.8s etc.

I suspect it is how the dealers/DVLA keyed in the data when the vehicles were first registered.
There are also Con-sseurs listed too!
