Weird electrical gremlins
Good morning all.
Recently I’ve been having some strange electrical gremlins with one of my 75s The cars a 53 plate 2.0 cdt tourer. Before I carry on I’d say there is no water ingress into the car. No sunroof ect. If you connect a battery up to it not long after it will drop all of its windows. Then every so often it flashes its hazard lights and you can keep hearing the car trying to unlock itself. The other issue it has is with the dash lights. Sometimes they are on sometimes they are not. I’ve had the clocks out checked the connectors on the rear all good. All the other connectors I’ve checked and all good. I have had the car plugged into toaf and this shows the millage on the module as a random 300,000km and not the cars actual millage of 414,0000. The car still has the trip and millage not like it would if the lcm was unmatched. My next port of call is to change the BCM and the LCM. Also the key barrel in the drivers door plus unplugging the actual door lock it self. Has anyone come across these issues in the past? If so what was your outcome? I’ve had a local forum member help me and look over the car too. Thank you Biffa75 for that! Best regards Josh |
Sorry I can't help with the problems but my jaw dropped at the mileage - 414k - is that a typo or actual?
|
That’s KM the car has 256k miles

Still impressive

Hi Josh,
Have you tried a different battery, perhaps from one of your other cars, after charging it for 24 hours? Simon |
Yes different batteries same thing even when on charge
|
OK, it sounds like a K-bus fault to me.
It's easy to unplug the driver's door window module so you could try that and see if the other faults remain or cease. Simon |

After 300,000 km, the LSM stops updating the mileage data from the IPK ;)

K bus fault?
I see Simon has already raised the possibility of a K bus fault. Does your car have a fuel burning heater?
I had some strange electrical events which stopped after unplugging the FBH - I never figured out what the problem with the FBH was as it was removed from the car and is currently somewhere in the spares box awaiting fitting to my current car... another to do with too little time and enthusiasm for it :getmecoat: |
