Criticism requested..
Hi,
I'm looking to get this applied to an acrylic. It's not cheap so want to get it right! What do you think? https://live.staticflickr.com/65535/...253ba3cf_z.jpgPorthcawl, Wales.. by Philip Davies, on Flickr |
Perfect photo, faultless, I would say its ready for print. :D

Thank you very much!! This is a photo from the local town I took a couple of months ago. I really want to get it right! |
The only criticism i can give is, i wish i had taken it,
Excellent photo from our local seaside. |
for me the colours are great, even better when I loaded the AdobeRGB colour space. The bronzes in the spray really pop and the image lends itself to acrylics. Beware though as the image currently is in AdobeRGB, and most printers will use some form of sRGB, or convert to the native colour space that their device prints in.
If you are ever unsure of how a shot will look in acrylic (they are expensive) get yourself one of THESE, and practice using a satin or matt finished 6x4 print, although I cannot think of an image that doesnt look good in acrylic. |

It's a beautiful place to visit. Quote:
I will have to ask the print shop, although I doubt they will know. Maybe I will be surprised. Can you convert the colour space without loss or change of colour? Interesting photo frame. I will look into these!! Cheers. |
Before it’s printed, ensure your monitor is using the correct colour gamut and proof the image using the print companies ICC profile for their acrylic.

Is it Porthcawl? Seen many tremendous waves crashing there when I was a lot younger, have got relatives in Ponty 🙂.
Cracking photo by the way. Martyn |
Hi Phil, are you going to water mark your wave study or protect your work with a copyright? A holiday company contacted me to ask permission if they could use one of my Wildlife photos for their holiday brochures. It’s nice to be asked, but when someone uses your work without permission, it’s something else. I like your photo, dark skies, white lighthouse, gigantic wave, hits the spot and full of drama.

The acrylic printing is done off site at their factory in Cardiff so I don't think I will be able to proof the image before it's printed, but I will ask them. Quote:
Yes. Porthcawl. Its amazing when the big waves come in here. Quite frightening to watch it all going on. Funny, when I was younger I lived on the other side near Minehead, which you can see on a clear day and the sea never got rough there from memory. Quote:
Thank you for your lovely comment. Where was your photo found by the holiday company? I've never thought about a watermark, but I can't imagine anyone wanting to steal my photos anyway! |
