Its not very easy to put in to context. It sounds like a fluttery kind of knock at low speed? over rough surfaces not too deeply potholed?

If so then I'd guess either Drop link or Track rod end.

Track rod fairly easy to check by jacking up and rocking the wheel from 9-3 position.

Drop links are not easy to find until they get quite bad I've found. I had a knock like that for nearly a year before I finally felt any play in the drop link.

That is pretty much exactly right. ive changed the drop link so ill check the track rod end.

Thanks

Use a large flat headed screwdriver or pry bar to check both - you'll soon find play. It takes a lot of effort to lever the lower arms though. :)

I guess if its neither drop link or track rod end, I will take it to my local mot place and ask them to find the knock for me. I want to get it done asap as its the most annoying noise and it's constant.

I went through 2 mot's with a knock like that with no advisories. They can prove very hard to find. I had changed my drop links, then about a month later the knock started so discounted drop links, but sadly after putting up with it for ages, finally found out the drop link had gone again.

Mine also passed an MOT with a knock, it was the lower arm ball joint! It should definitely have been a fail.

They have quite a lot of load on them, so you'll really need to put some effort it to detect play. Obviously my MOT tested didn't. :o

Check the rear engine mount. The rubber bit in middle splits and it can be hard to see it is gone. Also all the joints on the lower wishbone. The rear mount on it can also go. If it is that do NOT get a cheap replacement as the proper ones are not much more expensive. You will be back doing it again shortly!
Worth checking that drop link again. Particularly if a cheap one. Is it properly tight especially at top? There are also two bushes that attach the anti roll bar to the car. These are rubber and again can go. Cheap to replace and easy to get to if under tray off. Two bolts on each. These are well inboard of the drop link connection. Worth a check.

while I agree to check the rear engine mount as if they haven't been replaced then they will most likely be ruined however listening to the audio clip that's definitely not the cause of it unless he was constantly on and of the accel
