1.4 k Series.
 
Does the 1.4K suffer the same HG isssues as the 1.6/1.8 K series?

I had an early 414 SLi and in the time between 56,000 when I bought it and 120,000 when my father-in-law passed it on I never had any issues with the head gasket, and that was after Moto-build had tuned it up for me.

I had a metro 1.4 gti 16v which was my brothers before it was mine, 12K on the clock when he got it and 134K on it when it died with a stolen car in the boot. no hg issuses and the coolant was never regularly checked.

fab car went like a rocket, brakes were rubbish though.

MG ZR 1.4 105's are prone to HGF. So I'd say so.

Yes , exactly the same :( although on the earlier engines it was made worse by the plastic locating dowels which I don't think the 1.8 ever had.
It's essentially the same engine :}

I'm afraid the answer is yes but having said that, they're still a damn good engine.
Regualr level checks & eyes on the temperature gauge.

The answer is yes as unfortunately we all know that the general majority of motorists never tend to look under their bonnet until it's too late. However theoretically it shouldn't suffer the same. The engine was really only ever designed to take 1.4, the 1.6 and 1.8 variations really are a stretch on the engine. The problem with the k-series range in it's entirety is the low tolerance cooling capacity in the system and the blown your nose on thicker tissue paper, elastomeric beading but again the stresses the 1.4 put these under is well within original design specs so with a well maintained example you could and really should be fine.
