FLYING BANANA 1st April 2014 07:06

New owner

In Dorset to collect Redfive. New clutch fitted and 13 months on the MOT, no advisories. Fully valeted and a full tank of diesel. Fully serviced, folder of receipts. Car was remapped by MarinaBrian last year. Ian has also given me a spare side skirt, mirror caps, steering wheel controls plus some other odd bits. Also thrown in a couple of MG style baseball caps and Red Five Bear.
And all that for £1000, I do believe that might be called a Bargain.

I use premium diesel just because I can and there are several threads reporting premium diesels making the car smoother and getting better mpg :) look at the intercooler pipe on the passenger side of the radiator to see if any oil is present if so change the o rings to the ones jules supplies and also change the pcv filter unless you know it has been done so alreaxy (it doesn't show up as a serviceable part for these from mgr but it is) :) oh and check the running temperature on obd as the thermostat sticks open on a lot of them :)

Oh and the clutch should last about the same, it more depends on how it has been driven previously than anything else :)

Just the usual things Bob,

Plenum first of all of course
Pcv filter second

Then just the usual fan, running temperature, intercooler hose and other bits.

Worth checking the thermostat housing as it is prone to leaking from the heater connection. This can be done with a torch looking down the belts side of the engine.

The clutch lasts as long as any other car.

The only overlooked items in my view is the injectors as they have a service life expectancy of 100,000 miles.

Hope it's a good'un - if you need any of the fiddly little bits that usually need doing on a CDT (as mentioned) give me a nudge and I'll sort them out for you. :)

It's always been driven sedately by a little old man in his sixties !!!!
