Mg zt-t bensin gauge and daylight

Has anyone tried to fix this little but annoying thing when driving in daylight you cant't see the bensin gauge because the daylight is shining straight on to it from behind the backview mirror? I was thinking fixing it with some black cardboard but does anyone else have a better solution?

What do you think it will achieve ?

The sensor activates the auto dim feature at night, so the mirror dims when car headlights come from behind so you are not blinded, as far as I understand it.

covering it up during the day won't achieve anything will it ???

Didn't know it was called a Bensin gauge though........... you live and learn eh

Benzin, is what many Europeans call petrol.

Ignore my comment then LOL

Totally wrong.

I've never had a problem with reflection on the petrol gauge ....... always clear

Yea, I meant petrol. I think it is really annoying when there is just reflection when you look at the petrol situation. Or am I just the wrong length and this is why I am getting a weird reflection? :D

It is caused by the daylight coming from behind the mirror and when I cover this area the reflection disappears. I was remembering reading a very old thread about this, but I couldn't find it anymore....

Haven't heard of this before - does it only happen with left hand drive, and sunshine of course?

Neither of which are common round here mind. :D

It's what all Europeans call petrol!

Actually it happens to me on my LHD ZTT. I am rather tall and in certain situations it's quite difficult to read the gauge.
