Funny how a day out can be so good.

As some will know I have had some hospital surgery lately ie a double hernia op

Was laid up for near on a week and thereafter the odd short walk or venture to the veggie plot .

Well yesterday the wife and i eased our frames into the silver Beastie and set off for the Scottish Maritime Museum in Irvine for a wee day out .

A museum of engineering to the world and also how the British navy ruled the seas for so long .

Helpful staff and great value .

Set over a fairly large site it tells the story of shipbuilding and trade in the west of Scotland.

If your in the area its a top visit .

My grandfather worked in the yards and my oldest brother worked in admin for Cunard so there was a link to the place .

I must say the exhibits there are a testimony to why Great Britain gave engineering to the world.
