Service light won't reset

My MG ZT diesel service light will not reset? I have tried two different tools, I have also replaced all pins plug for ODB. Also my torque bluetooth app does not communicate. Any known issues? Battery voltage is fine at pin 16. It reads -7900 miles

Do you drive more than 15K miles a year? If not, the service reminder is meaningless anyway, since you should be servicing annually. Some owners service even more frequently, so the display figure doesn't apply.
Did you confirm a good earth on Pin 4?

If you really need the display info, maybe a T4 session would inform on the socket's integrity?

Have you swapped the ECM or had anything done to it?

It has had a remap I believe by the previous owner

No I don't currently but it annoys me every time I start it up. But I do it anually as you say.

Yes earth is good, checked it at work with a meter.

Looks like I may need a T4 session then, cheers.

Have you been able to reset the service indicator before, or is this a new fault?

A remap won't effect the service indicator as the service indicator is in the IPK.

Could try a battery reset and then try the tool. Or you could grab TOAF and reset it through there.

Or if you fancy a trip to Cannock (Around an hour on the M5/M6) I can plug my T4 in and reset the indicator for you. I'm free the majority of evenings and most weekends.

The torque app might not communicate if your car isn't EOBD compliant ;)

Something must have been well and truly messed up with your ECU then . Even when you do the reset through the T4 you have to go into the IPK. I reckon connecting the T4 and resetting it properly will be fine :). I swear I’ve heard before that once it reaches a certain point those things that short the pins don’t work? Or am I imagining that?

But anyway, to the OP, if you’re near mine swing by and I’ll reset it for you :)

That is not the only way to reset the SIA using T4, although you are correct in saying it is in the IPK

The definitive answer however is is the the service time interval exceeds 1312 days, then a time reset, followed by a oil service reset is required ;)

Brian :D
