Is this genuine?

I thought these were rare, does this look like a genuine one? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

I know this one was http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...=STRK:MEWAX:IT

The badge in the active auction doesn't look the same as the one in the ended auction, not that you can see it properly! I am always suspicious about fuzzy photos on E-bay, the seller either has something to hide or can't be bothered to take a decent picture!!

But £29.50 for a badge insert!!!

I hope it was genuine or the buyer will be very upset indeed!

i i take it your talking about the badge which fits the boot lid handle..the first is not correct and the second is..is the badge flaking and coming apart?

JP53 25th September 2009 20:09

That one did look genuine but it was a bit steep

The others look a bit ifey however if they are genuine they are a very good price.

Hi pab, yes it's lost a bit of 'paint' but it's not coming apart.

i fitted the early mk1 handle to mine, but to the prodrive version i pulled the loose enamel off the badge and built it up to a decent standard with several coats of clear lacquer

I was thinking about touching up the paint pab and then lacquering. Do you think it would work?

pab 25th September 2009 20:38

as luck would have it the plastic lookalike enamel came off in one piece, and just built it up with clear lacquer....you have nothing to loose

I wrote and offered the seller of the so called 'iffy' one £5 inc postage and it was accepted. The badge looks good to me and is backed by 3M adhesive. I'm not too bothered if its genuine, its better than the faded and worn one on the car. It comes in an unmarked plastic bag.

EDIT: Just checked again as it only came today, I have rubbed the backing paper and it is embossed to I would say they are genuine. On my last one genuine one I painted the edges with clear lacquer prior to fitting to stop peeling. It worked.
