Boot lift mod
 

Has anyone got one of these going unused? As they no longer seem to be available new, hopefully someone on here who doesn't like and has removed it can help me!

ive got them on 1 of my zt's , it worked for about 2-3 months now it doesn't work at all , im not the only one who has this problem , so just a heads up

Interesting to hear that they stop working. Are we talking about the addition of a spring over the boot damper as there surely is not much to go wrong unless its causing the boot to twist maybe?:duh:

ive a set of these waiting to go on so would be keen to know of potenteal problems before i do please.

I've read a few posts about problems with the pressure on the boot lid causing leaks and so on, but I'm still willing to give them a go if I can get hold of a set... I can just as easily remove them If I don't like... I am intrigues by what else could cause them to stop working though?

iive had these fitted now for about a year and a half
The fix is adding a washer to the bottom thread on each side
Mine worked for a month or so then packed up, so i added the washer to the bottom, it acts as a spacer and just gives it a little more grunt to push it up and its worked like a charm now ever since
However im not going to lie, it does put a lot of pressure on the boot hinges and you do need a hell of a push to get it back down, but this does subside overtime

i have read where members have had issues with their boots leaking water in through the hinge bolts, ive not had this problem, but im sure that is no more difficult to fix than removing the bolts and adding a little sealant to them, then re-tightening them

Still remain hopeful! Someone has one they don't want any longer :-)

Just to add to the list of replies:
Mine worked fine for a few months. When I pressed the button at the front the boot popped open. But after a few months it just stopped doing that. When I press the button the lock disengages. But then I need to give it a small nudge before it actually opens.

The only reason I keep it, is because it is still more handy then having to raise the entire boot by hand. A nudge is better then lifting it up completely.
But I still liked it much more when it worked straight after pushing the button.

2 years and mine is still working fine...:D

Had mine for over two years now were bit sluggish in the really cold snap we had earlier in year but little wd40 on the pistons and all well again. I believe Steve916 is still a member though a blue now, whether or not he is still making the kits I dont know but worth a try if you really the idea. I believe BMW do a kit which will open and close boot for you but serious money I bet
