Endoscope - See inside sills

7 Attachment(s)
Following on from 'Blinks' thread about using a endoscope inspection camera to see inside sills, I thought I would have a look inside mine. The images are not the best quality, but you would for sure see any rust that was present deep inside. :eek:

I'm glad to say my sills on my 18 year old ZT seem to be free from rust, but I've only had a quick look; I will have another look once I find the rest of my endoscope kit. :duh:

Looking good in there Wes :bowdown:

I bought one for the exact same reason.

To nosey inside the sills.

That looks excellent considering how old the car is. Wonder if it is testamount to the build quality or just that it has not been anywhere with a lot of water on the road. Never the less, it is very good.

Dallas 3rd September 2019 22:09

Thanks fellas, I didn't know what to expect :eek: but it all seems fine and dandy in there. :D

Once I find the rest of the kit, I will go exploring some more; you can record video as well... :}

Mark Murphy 4th September 2019 10:40

There's a big rubber grommet behind the wheel arch liner - one at each end of the sill. Or there are 12 holes under the chrome sill finisher (but you'll break the clips!). Or the 5 drain holes, but I'm not sure how much you can see from these with an endoscope.

I thought I would try the inspection camera on the double din unit, I found the DD supports OTG, so the endoscope was plug and play.

I installed the CD software using the APK installer. ;)

Thats just showing off lol :}

I ended up buying this one. I just plugged it into the PC and loaded this piece of software from the mini disc that came with it.

The camera appears to do stills and video (with sound - no idea how) but I don't think it's much use for either unless there's already plenty of light on the subject. Instructions are non-existent.

There is an adjuster on the cable for adjusting the light. Agreed instructions or useless

Which did Dallas buy

I used an Endoscope on my Sills a couple of years ago BUT simply did not get the quality of picture Dallas has shown. His seems to produce far more light than mine so really keen to know where he got his for. To compensate on mine I bought an Xmas white LED string of lights and inserted them into the Sills once I had removed the Chrome ( stainless steel ?) finisher. Anyway , like to know more about your device Dallas. Thanks

Hi Roger, Its just a regular non branded 6LED endoscope as seen on ebay, 1.3MP camera with a 5.5mm lens case size. I bought it about two years ago from ebay, or it could have been from Gearbest.

I've had a quick search and found this 3MP 6LED model HERE... even comes in a case/tin. ;)

You can also try using a photo editing program if your images are dark or pixelated, try lightening/sharpening them, this can often make all the difference.

I hope that helps. ;)

Just make sure you don't get the camera stuck when you go poking around like I did. :duh:
