Price of gazole in France
I'm not sure if I should fill up my Tourer in Dover or Boulogne on my trip south on Monday. Can anyone tell me today's price of gazole at Leclerc please?
Many thanks |
Have a search here: http://www.prix-carburants.gouv.fr/

Gazole
Thanks, JDC. I had looked at the site you posted but couldn't see Leclerc's prices. This is the first station you come to off the ferry and then it's allons-y for the Pyrenees. Used to be a no-brainer but with the current exchange rate and movements in world prices just wanted to be on the safe side. If Sarko ever raised taxes on diesel in France to the levels we endure in Britain the French Revolution would look like a practice run, imho. Anyway, SOP. Arrive in Dover a quarter full then top up in Boulogne.
Many thanks |
I went to France in March, petrol was about 12ppl cheaper in the UK/Dover!!!!
From memory Diesel was also quite a few pence cheaper in the UK. I know we planned it to buy as little petrol (took SWMBO car) as possible in France and saved quite a few ££'s by doing so. |
If it's not too late for relpet or others coming over to France:
Petrol and Diesel are always cheaper in Supermarket/Hypermarket stations, but only outside the highways. The following are major brands of super/hypermarkets that could be selling petrol, diesel or LPG: Auchan, Carrefour, Leclerc, and Cora. Attention to this particular case: Carrefour has some stations on the highways claiming they are cheaper than major petrol brands (Esso, Shell, Total, etc...). These are only stations and not super/hypermarkets (they have however some comodities stores should one need anything). The fact is that they are only 2 or 3 cents cheaper than major brands while if off the highways they would be 15 to 20 cents cheaper. Hoping this helps |
This may be too late, however, I was in Sangatte (close to Calais) Easter Sunday and found Gazolle for 87 cents / litre. Considerably cheaper than the UK. It was a small supermarket forecourt, cannot remember the name, unfortunately.

Gazole
Happy to say that diesel still cheaper in France. Price at Leclerc was about the equivalent of 86p/litre. Total Excellium, (my preferred fuel) at stations on the autoroute was about £1 a litre. Big reduction since last summer but exchange rate still painful.
Hope this helps anyone heading for or through la belle France. Thanks for all responses. |
Was it you

I was waiting in the queue in Boulogne on monday and saw a beautiful Midnight Blue 75 unloading from the ferry. Could that have been you? And yes, due to the current low value of the pound, it is still cheaper to buy petrol and diesel in the UK. |
Gazole/gasola
Sorry, not my midnight blue. ( I did look at one but the car failed on the first two test drives. On the third the front grill fell off! Sometimes you just have to listen to the voices in your head.)
Anyway, mine's a Wedgwood Blue Tourer. There are a surprising number of 75s in south-west France, I've discovered. Popped into Spain the other day and found supermarket diesel at 88.8 cents a litre. Carrefour in France charging 94 cents. Spanish fuel works out at about 79p a litre using an exchange rate of 1.12. Diesel significantly cheaper in these parts. |

I have a midnight blue 51 plate and was in France on Monday. I came back from Calais with the first shuttle instead of ferry on Tuesday morning… |
