Petrel was the last of the whalers afloat in South Georgia, but sadly it is no longer the case and she no longer floats.

Tim and Pauline Carr in the shop part of the Grytviken Whaling Museum they were instrumental in setting up. They played a major part in the conservation of buildings and artefacts.

Large bulls have been known to weigh in at five to six tons, and it's best to stay upwind of them as the stench of their foetid breath can knock you over.
