Rover 55
Just looking again on the AROnline ste at the Rover 55 mockup/clay model (whatever it was)
Wonder what happened to this great looking car? Probably broken up I guess (or sitting in a shed in China now somewhere with the Rover 75 Coupe?) Andrew |

Thanks for the post.
As a Johnny Foreigner I have never heard of the 55 Program or of BMW's plans to take Rover upmarket. Another lost opportunity, pity. The car is interesting, and quite attractive. I'm not sure I care for the lines (a bit Chrysler 200-ish but not as angular) and I do think the wheels are too big, although giant wheels seem to be a "thing" for manufacturers, even today. |
You will find the concept cars are only an idea of what hey are looking to produce. The lines etc will be the latest fad that all car designers are moving towards. Engineering and production have a big say on the final design due to cost and ease of producing the panels etc that confirm to the latest homoligation tests blah blah
Lovely car tho....:drool4: |
To be honest I never liked it. The packaging was frankly silly and the whole thing sagged in the middle.

I really like the look of it and is one of my favourite colours, so much I have had it on my lap top as a wallpaper for years now.;)

I had a dream that I'd seen a white 55 and that Wedgwood blue one the other night.
At least I think it was a dream  |
I just searched for cars of 1998 on the Web and nothing comes near this.
I would buy one. Where would I start looking?:getmecoat: |
