MOT fail

Gutted today as I have spent £130 on my O/s projector headlamp - it wouldn't fit the female part of the power supply, so had to be sent back. The original was put back to see if it would get through its MOT, but it failed. I have spent so much time faffing around with blown bulbs and struggling with the bumper etc etc - I'm in two minds whether to sell the car. Our headlight are a crappy design and can't be fixed once the internals break!
down in t he dumps now, as the car is off the road!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Not a happy bunny at all- having spent £1300 this year on the car!

Look on the bright side you have only spent 10% of the total on the projector so having spent a total of 1300 it would make sense to keep the car on the road.

Don’t know if many headlamp assemblies that can be stripped down and repaired.
It’s a throwaway and replace world we now live in.

I have swapped bits from standard lights into projectors on a few occasions to make a good set, it’s quite easy to do if you have a working donor headlight.

Stop and think logically and calmly.

Go to a scrap yard and get two headlights regardless of type and fit them (or speak with one of the traders on here, Mickeyboy would be my first stop). Send a picture of the plugs you have (I didn't realise they were different) to make sure you have no issues.

Getting both lights at a scrap yard, mean you have a matching pair if you cannot get projectors, but it means you will get it through mot and some.breathing space.

If you change your car you could end up with another where you have to spend another 1300 on , at least with this one you know the work is done.

Hi Rob. Sorry to hear you have this problem. Have you been in touch with Big Russ? He lives in Leeds and may be able to help you. I know you have spent a lot on your motor this year, and it has let you down big time, but after speeding that amount of money on it, there can not be much else to go wrong now. Keep your pecker up and ask Big Russ if he can help you out.

Im intrigued by the difference in plugs I've changed reflectors for both halogen and xenon and the plugs were the same.

Can you post a picture?

What was the problem with the headlight on the MOT??

To be precise, Russ is in Liversedge, 10-12 miles south west of Leeds.

Add my name to the "baffled by different connectors" list

There isn't any difference in power supply plugs to our headlamps. I was unlucky with the allegedly new O/s headlamp I bought. I believe the pins were s lightly misaligned. I didn't want to force and get blamed for damaging it, so it went back today.

I know Big Russ - he did my remap. I have 2 new headlamps on order, but will check with Russ if I have any further issues.
