Instrument Panel
I have managed to obtain an Instrument panel from an identical car as mine (2.0 CDT).The bonus being it has a fully working display IE NO LINES showing.
So is this a straight forward swop from the old one, Plug and Play Or is it not that simple. Any info appreciated..:} |

Is it possible to swap the E Prom? And what happens if you just fit it and run it with out virginising the E Prom... As you can guess I am a complete novice with electronic thing's,Well not a "complete" novice, some parts are still missing.:shrug: |
I seem to remember Brian saying you can swap the eeprom but you need to be a dab hand with a soldering iron.

You'll either need to get the cluster virginised and then programmed in with a t4 or toaf, or swap the eeprom chip from your old cluster to the new one (assuming both are highline clusters).
If you plug it straight in without doing this the wrong mileage will show on the cluster (it will show the mileage of the donor car you removed the cluster from) and you will also see "ERR" on the trip display due to a vin mismatch. Bare in mind that if you have a later reg car and have removed the cluster from an early car, the instrument cluster won't support your parking sensors, so your parking sensors won't work if you have sensors fitted. Early cars had the parking sensor sounder fitted at the rear of the car, later car's had the sounder as part of the instrument cluster. |

Thanks for the information.....Nothing is simple is it...I will check first and make sure that the display is line free and then when I am over in the UK again (end of the year) I will get it on a T4. Any suggestions as who can do it nearest to the Midlands ?? |
