52.3 mpg.....
.....Is what Tarquin was averaging on our way to Cornwall. That included me, both my parents and a weeks worth of clothing and other accessories stuffed in the boot.
Happy with that. :) |
Pretty good . I'm hoping to get somewhere near that on my trip to Portsmouth in the not too distant future.

52.3 mpg
I went to Yorkshire and back at the weekend (290 miles). My dial read 54.5mpg overall. Mine is a 16 year old 130 remapped diesel auto.
All done in swift, relaxing comfort, not bad for a so called 'banger' the insurers say is worth £650. What a car! Britain at it's best. |

I was on a trip to Bridgwater Tuesday and was very happy to see my fuel consumption readout showing 62.7 mpg after 105 miles.
https://previews.dropbox.com/p/thumb...ue&size_mode=5 Then followed a 50mph stretch of roadworks and my consumption went up to 64.2 https://previews.dropbox.com/p/thumb...ue&size_mode=5 then the following day (after some pottering round Bridgwater) i returned home and had a consumption display of 60.1 after the 275 mile trip https://previews.dropbox.com/p/thumb...ue&size_mode=5 Lets see how it works out when i refill and do a brim to brim calculation. probably be Sunday when I refill ready for my next trip. planned trip is Sunday from home to Gillingham (approx 190 miles) then Monday onto Bridgwater (approx 200 miles), then Tuesday back home again (approx 125 miles) |
I took my Omega V6 Auto estate on a 600 mile return trip last week. The MPG - exactly 27 - which is slightly less than half that achieved by my Corsa on the same trip too weeks earlier.
But, I did come back with a huge grin that went from one ear to the other. :D |
Some good figures there chaps!
I've been pottering around in the Scottish Highlands this week and as we're in no hurrry have been seeing what the 75 will achieve after its 160 remap and new intercooler. I brimmed the tank on Monday so that fuel was visible in the filler neck and drove it sparingly but with Aircon on full and a bit of a load - after 690.1 miles the dash told me I had a consumption figure of 57.6 and a range left of 58 miles, however that's definitely optimistic. The car had used 12.79 gallons of fuel in the 690.1 miles so that's actually 53.95 MPG. Whatever way you look at it that's pretty cheap motoring! I filled it up this afternoon and will be driving in a little more spirited manner to enjoy the 160 remap this time. We're going from Inverness to Gairloch tomorrow and that's a lovely drive on empty roads in beautiful countryside. Back home, there are some major roadworks on the A14 which mean that you have to do about 50 miles at 40 mph max - on a good day I can get over 70 MPG indicated on a 100 mile round trip. It's sooooooooooo boring though! |
