Paddy Hopkirk Wheel Balancer
I have one of these from several years ago.
The device has a plate with several drilled holes through which one locates bolts to centralize a spirit bubble in line with the centre of the wheel. This is then balanced believe it or not, on a glass milk bottle (I have a couple still). I wondered if any other member uses one of these and have found which holes suit our wheels? |
The legend that is Paddy Hopkirk was 86 yesterday

Is that on the level 😂

Unfortunately it only works to statically balance the wheel and does not help with modern, wide wheels that need to be dynamically balanced.

I use a bullseye balancer for the 15" wheels, but then again I also use a Harvey Frost Ace tyre changer :getmecoat:
Brian :D |
I had a Harvey Frost crane on my recovery truck on the Atkinson Borderer. That's why I have massive shoulders! Mechanical crane and no power steering, until you lifted the front axle of the towed vehicle and then you had trouble keeping the front end down over the bumps!
