What I Did With My Rover 75 Late Last Night.............
............Or rather what marinabrian did
Over 40 years driving experience including HGV-PSV- Cars and Motorbikes, I have drove well in excess of a million miles accident free. Since buying my 75 I seem to have attracted kamikaze drivers trying to wipe me out, Friday evening was no exception as I found myself facing a Transit van coming straight towards me from a blind bend. Resulting in damage to wing, front door, rear door, rear panel and a snapped tracking arm and damaged front wheel . If that wasn't bad enough my partner fell over 5 weeks ago and broke her arm and shoulder blade so I have been looking after her. I phoned Brian Friday night and told him what had happened to my car, and his response was " I just happen to have a steering rack and I can come and have a look at the damage". I said Brian I am at Scarborough which is 95 miles away from you, his reply was.....Not a problem Ray, send me the address and I will see you tomorrow. Saturday tea time 4.45 pm Brian arrives armed with a car load of tools and jacks and a steering rack, but first things first and apply him with coffee then the master gets to work. The sheer devotion this bloke has towards these cars and members on here and also friends speaks volumes, to change a steering rack on the roadside single handed just goes to show what a brilliant mechanical minded genius he really is. Job completed at 10.30 pm and when I asked how much for his services his reply was "Dont be daft"...........I thought my god he has done a round trip of 186 miles and worked on the roadside for 6 hours and he refuses a payment telling me I am a good friend and in need of his help. My only regret was Scarborough's finest Fish & Chip shop had closed at 7 pm otherwise I would have taken great pleasure in buying him a Large Cod and chips, and if ever he gets down this way again the offer still stands. Anyway Brian I would just like to Thank you so much for getting my car mobile again, and if ever I can assist you in any way Day or Night then you have my phone number. I hope Mrs marinabrian didn't give you too much grief for arriving home at 20 to 1 this morning. http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/...psd8ny6ecy.jpg http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/...ps2pmbayzb.jpg http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/...ps593nfkyk.jpg http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/...pssq4tt63v.jpg http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/...psugjxphzv.jpg |

Truly amazing  I must meet this marinabrian, there's not many folk left who would do such a job at short notice, without payment and on the roadside.
Op, you should have secretly placed some well earned cash in Brian's car, nice surprise for him on his journey home. :} |

PhilT4 has saved my bacon though. |
Brian is a top man, doing that for a fellow member is great. 👍

I think that we should make Brian into Sir Brian after that. The members of this club should say a small prayer that we have the likes of Brian, Russ, Phil T4 and the rest of the lads helping us all so well at silly times.
Tom. Bri, the biscuits are on me at Eden camp! :D |
