Mg zt 2.5 v6 160 rear brakes
 

Hi all.i am getting very confused with the information i am getting about my rear brakes.
My car is an 2002 mg zt 2.5 160
Now soom people and shops are telling me different things.some are saying vented rear and some are saying solid.
I need to replace discs pads and calipers.has anyone got any views on this,also i have noticed different diameter vented dics as well.thankyou all:shrug:

Should be solid discs, but have a look before you order, dead easy to tell the difference.

Didn't they change somewhere during Project Drive so they could be either, depending on the VIN. I remember seeing something about brake discs changing from vented to solid on 160s. They're not the same as 190s either I seem to recall

Rears are the same as the 190

the rear discs vented or not are the same diameter .across the model range.
the fronts however do differ in diameter.to the o/p just take a look and replace the like with like.

What discs have you got on at present ?

The MG ZT V6 160 did come with both types, depends on what they had available. Noticed on a few cars that they have had solid discs, but mine started lift with vented, and also a few others should have had vented but they were replaced with solids and that caused a problem with pad wear

I suspect you asked because you are unsure of how to tell the difference. Some folks are inexperienced in mechanical stuff or maybe not as mechanically inclined as others. Anyway, if you look through the spokes of your rear wheel at the edge of your brake rotor you will see what type you have.
