Walnut trim question
On the walnut (not plastic) trim on the older models, does it also have real walnut on the radio peak/hood thing and also the trim below the radio where all the buttons and ashtray are? Also are they the same colour as the darker veneer - as opposed to the lighter colour on the plastic ones?
Basically I don’t want to fit the real veneer trim without it matching the lower set of trim, which I presume would also need? Cheers chaps |
Well.. I don't know what others think of it, but I have only ever fitted the upper dash trim bits when swapping from plastic to real wood on my cars.. never fitted the lower trim and I have never noticed any difference..

Thanks for the reply Kev, hhmm that’s interesting - the real one is darker so would it still match, like this photo?

I wouldn't worry too much about the pics, the colour difference in the photos will mainly be down to different lighting conditions. In real life, the difference is nowhere near as stark. Cliff |

so - dont worry - just swap the upper parts.. all will be good :) |
The imitation wood dashes 2003 onward seem all pretty interchangeable colour wise however the real timber ones pre 2003 have a wide range of shades due to sunlight , different part of the tree etc.
I have found this especially when trying to match up cracked airbag cover panels. In the factory sets were matched up I think due to the variations of colour. I have had real dark walnut and lighter walnut panels and they were both timber but miles apart colour wise. As mentioned the look alike ones are all the same. |
Great thanks chaps for the help!

I still haven't got round to fitting the large section of my wood dash but unless you actually look closely at the patterning, you can't tell the difference between the veneer airbag & main plastic sections side by side.
