Importing a car from Australia to the UK..
Hi to our Australian members, I have a hankering for a car that was only sold I think in Australia.. I've seen pictures of them and love the look.
Please don't judge!! I would love a Leyland P76. How has time treated them in Australia? Are they mainly rotten now or has time been kind to them? Are there many about? How easy to obtain are spare parts? How much do they cost? |

There are clubs (search leyland p76 club australia). Parts for any 1970's car are rather rare but the consumables can be found on ebay.com.au. A quick search found zero for sale. I recon contacting all the clubs would be the best bet. They are huge cars noted for being able to fit a 44 gallon drum in the boot. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/13/07/11/hy3e9yqu.jpg Best of luck :) |
We should start a caption contest with this pic
http://www.webtrade.com.au/p76/image...gen01ley13.jpg The Leyland P76 - Outback Murderer's, you can get a whole family in the boot and your shovel with ease........ :getmecoat: |
You can even fit a dingo in it too. Carry your own alibi with you :)

Good luck getting parts for one of those!

We got them here in New Zealand as well, I remember seeing a few as a teenager. There is a couple around my area, and I always particularly liked the V8. One of my classmates parents in my 6th Form year at college (year 12?) had a V8 version.

Hmm, I hoped that they were more available than that. :( Oh well. I really wanted one in hairy lime. :)

They made 18000 of them in one year then shut the doors for good. So a car with a 12 month run is pretty rare and definitely an enthusiasts project. I saw one in W.A going for $5000. Original and 'good for its age'. A V6. If you imported to the U.K you would have one VERY rare car.
You would have to get parts sent across the globe all the time. Kinda like me but in the other direction :) |
Yes, I know. Would still love one though. What V6 was it? I didn't know BL made a V6!
