Drivers seat fault

Hi all.
the drivers seat (with memory etc, etc) has stopped working.
I have changed the black control box underneath, with no change.
The passenger side works fine.
Any ideas where else to look?
with no power its very difficult to get to anything (like connectors underneath)
and its the only fault with the car (having sailed through the MOT this week with no advisories again), but it is annoying!
Thanks
Paul

Hi Paul
Try disconnecting the black box, I've noticed the white connector block sometimes causes no power issue, leave the box disconnected for a few mins then spray with contact cleaner, reconnect & turn the ignition on and retry

Seat issues

Thanks for the reply,
I have actually replaced the box completely for another one.
I know sometimes the wires can become damaged, but without the seat being able to move, its difficult to check them.
Cheers

Hi Paul
It's not that difficult mate, the easiest way I find is to unplug from motor get yourself a car battery put some leads from the car battery on and hold them on with a couple of pairs of mould grips then connect them to the motor at the front to take the seats all the way back and do the front two bolts, then swap the leads round in reverse on the plug and do the same for the rear bolts by operating the seat right to the front that way you can then disconnect the complete seat and have a good look underneath clean everything with contact cleaner etc, and also if you feel like it you can cut and solder the airbag connectors together.

At least then there is no airbag light to worry about in the future ;)

As for the Black seat module, are you positive that the one you replaced it with actually works, as I have had to chuck out quite a few that have failed before, they are not known for their great reliability unfortunately

Seats

Cheers for the tip Mick,
I may have to try that with the battery.
It's true , the replacement box could be duff, as it was not seen working, and I didn't know they were unreliable, until now.
Thanks
Paul
