SAIC Van
Driving through Pudsey behind a white van not taking any real interest in it as such. It was obviously an LDV, common in the past but not so many about now. Then I noticed the reg. it was on 68 plate. Thought that's late they had been closed a while by then hadn't they? Then I noticed the badge on the back, SAIC. When did they start importing these? Cannot recall seeing one before.

LDV vans, built at Washwood Heath until the firm’s collapse seven years ago, will go on sale in the UK again – only this time they are made in China.;) The assets of LDV were bought by Chinese businesswoman Qu Li in October 2009 although original plans to relaunch the firm at a site in Birmingham making eco vans failed to progress. But the LDV Maxus-style van has since been revived by Chinese giant SAIC, which also own MG UK at Longbridge – and it is now planning to take on the UK market. |
Saic Maxus
They started bringing in these vans in 2016. My friend bought a new one which I am going to convert into a camper for him. I bought an old (58reg) Maxus which I am doing as a trial for the best layout. Geoff.:}

Just been reading about the SAIC Maxus van, "The Harris Group serves as the distributor in Great Britain, and Maxus says the electric van is the first to become only available as a fully electric model with no other power train options. SAIC is building the EV in China with the UK being the primary export market".

I wouldn't have it given thanks very much, the Chinese have caused enough grief this year don't you agree?

Funny this should come up but the house 2 doors down has recently been sold and there has been a gold one of these vans parked outside the last few days.

I'm getting sick of all the TV adverts already for batteries on wheels :mad:
Motoring in the future is going to go horribly wrong! |
